To be creative is to be curious. Drawing from nature is nothing new. Artists, writers, and poets have drawn inspiration from the natural world seemingly forever. Relatively new to the human experience is our addiction to screens. Students, like the rest of us, are constantly tempted to reach for their phones, to respond to that text, to scroll through their feeds. While I have always enjoyed outdoor activities, my work in biomimicry came through my work as a teacher. These images represent some of my work with RISD’s Nature Lab.
