It’s been many years since I’ve built a wooden boat, or restored an old one for that matter. That being said, many of the lessons and skills I learned through my experiences working on boats permeates the work that I do today. Construction techniques and knowledge of materials are some of the obvious things that one might take from traditional wooden boatbuilding. What truly resonates (now 20 years since i completed a two-year boatbuilding apprenticeship) is the patience and pragmatism that is required.
